HSN (Harmonized System of Nomenclature) is a 6-digit international code used to classify goods for taxation and trade. In India, GST uses 4 to 8 digit HSN codes to determine the tax rate applicable on goods. SAC (Services Accounting Code) is the equivalent for services.
The 56th GST Council Meeting simplified the GST structure into three primary slabs: 5% for essential goods, 18% as the standard rate, and 40% for luxury/sin goods, with 3% for precious metals, 1.5% for cut diamonds, 0.25% for precious stones and 12% for bricks. Tobacco and pan masala moved from 28% to 40% on 1 February 2026 (Notification 19/2025). This tool contains all 22,000+ HSN codes and 680+ SAC codes with rates as per Notification 9/2025-CT(Rate).
